today when I was reading Barbara Grizzuti Harrison's book 'Visions of Glory'. She was a Jehovah's Witness in her younger years and mentions David as someone who also grew up in that group. Barbara likens her experience to that of David as both were victims of growing up in a group that not only
monitors 'outside associations' but 'inside' associations as well. She concludes that this has influenced the contrast of sound in his music.

I absolutely love this man's work. The bari sax part for mother earth is a true challenge, which is great. I only got the piece this week. and I am already looking foward to playing more of his pieces.
