The Orpheus Saxophone Quartet is based out of Morehead State University and consists of all juniors, under the instruction of Dr. Nathan Nabb. The members include Sara Sipes, Will Fergason, Collin Stegeman, and David Houston. The Orpheus Sax Quartet strives to play both standard and contemporary works of music at the highest possible level and constantly pushes the technical and musical boundaries of their individual playing. Performances include those at the MTNA Kentucky Competition, the North American Saxophone Alliance National and Region 7 Conference, and numerous at Morehead State University. The Orpheus Quartet will be competing in the Coleman Chamber Music Competition Finals on April 25th, 2009 in Pasadena, CA and is eagerly awaiting performing in the 15th World Saxophone Congress in Bangkok, Thailand in the summer of 2009.
Performed by the Orpheus Saxophone Quartet from Morehead State University, this is the first movement of David Maslanka's Mountain Roads for saxophone quartet. This was filmed for entry into the Fischoff and Coleman Chamber Music Competitions. Special thanks go to Jake Ratliff and Brandon Colema

you advised to take it in cut time?
well played guys! I question the middle section too though. Great!
bari player has downbeats on each bar and only moves during that time so it is not distracting. With the tempo, it was easier to follow but we didn't change any part of the music. Thank you for the kind comments.
maslanka has such an awesome
perception of the way music could be written. It's like nothing i've heard before.
And that is what i love about him most.
But this is very well
played and enjoyable and entertaning to hear.
like how clean your runs are. The intonation is great too. Sara, you have a great sound on the soprano.
to say i'll be attending Morehead next fall. =D
at Mansfield University will be performing this suite at the Navy Band Symposium in Washington DC this coming year. This quartet did a very fine job, I thoroughly enjoyed the performance =)
