The 2010-2011 Texas All-State 5A Symphonic Band performing Symphony No. 4 by David Maslanka, conducted by Gary Green. This triumphant symphony is both a haunting and thrilling journey through the mind of David Maslanka. Incredibly touching yet also somewhat dark, this symphony pulls towards the dramatic resolution at the end. In my opinion, one of the most beautiful symphonies, and an excellent performance.

are not clarinets, that's a solo trumpet. Clarinet's can't double tongue too well.

good recording, even if there are some mistakes like not following the conductor at some times, incorrect entries, only one of nine tubas muted (but all playing oO), and it's too bad about the trumpet solo at 9:09. and why nine tubas?i mean, i'm a tuba player myself and i like a massive tuba sound in an orchestra, but even for this orchestra, i personally think it is too much. three to four would be enough i think
(maximum) I played this pieces two days ago in the Tonhalle Zürich, and study Tuba

Every section is huge. Just LOOK at that trombone line up. Not to mention the horn section.
I think that's part of the big state band thing though... they don't sound
too bad for such a huge ensemble!

oh yes! i went to the 5a band symphonic band and i did not like the pieces they played this year! i was in the 2010 5a Symphonic band and also didnt like the pieces. the year i make the orchestras the 5a band goes and plays something like this! i was mad i got 2nd in the state in 2011 lol. well i was mad i chose the orchestras but the sypmhony orchestra did amazing on symphonie fantastique so i cant complain i guess! i was a
clarinet player!

I must say, the bit between 2:26 and 2:33 is the best i've EVER heard that lick
performed, including professional recordings (including the Navy Band recording, Dallas Wind Symphony)... that was amazingly together and full, not thin like on every other recording I've heard of this piece. Good job on the rest of it too :)
